Biography of Edward Obeng -Kwakye
Raised in a devout Christian household, Edward Obeng-Kwakye was baptized at Mount Olivet Methodist Church in Abrepo-Kumasi, Ghana, which instilled in him a profound sense of purpose and devotion to service.

His early education took him to Greater Accra, after which he attended Osei Tutu High School from 1997 to 1999. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Edward Obeng-Kwakye pursued technical studies at Sanat Computer Institute, where he earned a certificate in computer software and hardware between 2000 and 2002.
Edward’s inspiration to support women and children came to him as a calling—a vision to reach out to the unborn and expectant mothers in need, Needy and Orphans Children. This marked the beginning of his Pro-life advocacy, and he initially founded his organization under the name Sound Waves Image Ghana, with support from Shari Richards of Sound Waves Image. This initial backing from Shari opened doors, but when financial constraints forced her to withdraw her support, Edward Obeng-Kwakye remained undeterred. Through connections with Mr. Eric Ohlman, the International Director of Frontlines International, Edward Obeng-Kwakye was introduced to Life International, which supported him for a few years. Eventually, as these international partnerships concluded, Edward’s steadfast dedication led him to establish the Edward Initiatives Foundation in 2006—as non-profit organization dedicated to anti-abortion advocacy, support for women and children, Needy and Orphans Children.
Dr. Matthew Harrison has been a pillar of support for Edward’s projects over the years. His contributions have enriched a wide range of efforts, from international and local mission trips to the education of needy children, care for single mothers, and nationwide anti-abortion campaigns. Dr. Harrison’s unwavering support has also extended to Edward’s family, and it was through his guidance that Edward joined the Helping Hands Medical Mission team, of which he is a proud member over years.
Under Edward Obeng-Kwakye’s visionary leadership, the Edward Initiatives Foundation has flourished. His approach to pro-life advocacy is both unique and heartfelt. Rather than engage in abstract arguments, he focuses on connecting with people’s hearts, speaking directly to the compassion of his audience. His foundation has consistently provided resources, support, and counseling to young mothers, single women, and families in need, with a current clientele of 65 individuals—including 47 single mothers, 10 pregnant women, and 8 new mothers. Each month, Edward and his team host a gathering on the last Thursday, where spiritual guidance is offered through sermons and prayer, followed by the distribution of essential items like food, toiletries, and other necessities. This commitment requires approximately $300-$500 USD per month, showcasing Edward’s personal devotion and financial sacrifice for the cause. But due to many financial crisis this monthly meeting has been called off for some time now.
Edward’s pro-life journey has garnered recognition beyond Ghana’s borders, leading to connections with international advocates such as Denise F. Coccioione of the National Life Center, Molly S. White from Women for Life International, and Nathan Burd of Heartbeat International. Through these partnerships, Edward Obeng-Kwakye has championed the cause of pro-life advocacy, making a positive impact on countless lives.
Today, Edward Obeng Kwakye stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, his foundation continuing to support those most vulnerable within society. As he appeals to international organizations for additional support, Edward remains committed to expanding his reach, creating awareness, and uplifting those in need. His gratitude extends to every individual who has walked beside him on this journey, and he prays for continued blessings upon them all.
Edward’s life and work serve as a testament to the power of faith, compassion, and unyielding resolve. His dedication to Pro-life advocacy and Needy and Orphans children remains a source of inspiration to many, as he tirelessly strives to save lives and restore dignity to those he serves. May his path be continually blessed as he reaches out to heal and protect in the name of love and faith.
With all the inspirations from local and International organisations, His work has been recognised with many.
